For the most part I try to keep this blog about me, my family, and my crafty stuff. But today I want to challenge you to do something that, if you take me up on it, you probably won’t enjoy much. It’s not Crafts or Sewing.. But still Very Important.
I came across this quote.. and it made me think.
A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.
– Gerald Ford
Is that what government is for? To give..and take away? I’ve never stopped to think of it that way. Who gives the government that right, to give and take? You know the answer right? We do.. when we elect those to speak for us and run our country. And that’s exactly why it’s so important to vote… and to know who you are voting for.
Do you know who you are voting for in this election? I mean really know? Have you looked at the track records of the two men who are running for the biggest position in our Country? Have you made a mental note as to how they voted in the past? Have you bothered to find out both sides to the issues? Or have you simply been content with what the media wants you to know? A presidential election only comes around ever four years. With your future riding on it, isn’t that worth a little homework? I believe it is.
Find out what these two men stand for, consider it, pray about it. Look past how you hope your vote will effect your life in the next four years, but how it might effect your children’s lives, say, in the next twenty years.
How much power are you willing to give your government?
How much power are they willing to take?
Get to know your candidates today.. They’ve both been in the Senate… take a look at their public voting records. If you worry about abortion, gun rights, taxation, socialistic values, military views, pay special attention to these issues. By visiting their voting record you will know where each man stands.
I found this site to be very helpful. You can find a link to both candidate’s voting history here. Also read what this page says “Pay attention to the fine print”.. they’ve broken some issue down for you on this page as well. I was surprised by what I read.. Things that I thought were true about McCain were in fact false.. and the same for Obama. Hmmm.
Find out what each candidate is promising.. look for their spins on the truth.. Are their promises feasible? How often have these promises changed? Hmmm.
It’s not my place to tell you who to vote for… it’s your vote. It should represent what YOU want for yourself, for your children, and for our country. What I want you to do is a little homework.
Do your homework first..it’s important.. Then decide who deserves your vote.
